Privacy Policy

The short version
Nyx has no accounts, no ads and no analytics. Your history, bookmarks, passwords you type, addresses and settings stay on your computer. We do not collect, sell or share your personal data.
What stays on your computer
Your browsing history, Favorites, bookmarks, Reading List, tab groups, saved addresses, downloads list, settings, website cookies and site data are stored only in Nyx’s folder on your computer. You can delete them at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Clear Browsing Data, or by uninstalling Nyx.
Private tabs keep their cookies and site data in memory only. They are erased when you close your last private tab.
When Nyx connects to the internet on its own
Updates: Nyx asks our update server whether a new version exists and downloads it. The server sees your IP address and the version you use, like any website you visit.
Ad-block lists: Nyx downloads public filter lists every few days. No browsing information is sent.
Search suggestions: when turned on, what you type in the address field is sent to your chosen search engine to suggest searches. This never happens in private tabs, and you can turn it off in Settings → Search.
Site icons: Nyx asks Google’s favicon service for the icons of sites in your Favorites and sidebar.
Extensions: when you install an extension, it is downloaded from the Chrome Web Store, and installed extensions check it for updates.
Websites and extensions
Websites you visit and extensions you install can collect information under their own privacy policies. Nyx blocks many trackers and asks websites not to track you, but it cannot control what sites do with information you give them.
Websites must ask before using your camera, microphone, location or notifications. You can review these choices in Settings → Privacy & Security.
Children
Nyx does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will appear in Nyx and on the download page with a new date.
Contact
To report a problem or a security issue, use Report a Problem in Nyx (the ⋯ menu). Reports go privately to the developer.
